Security researchers have found the Zeus Trojan horse running an unauthorized command in the infrastructure of cloud computing from Amazon . It is the first time that Amazon's cloud services have been subject to some kind of illegal activity, according to director of HCL Technologies, Don DeBolt.
The hackers did not do it with permission of the Amazon. They entered the company's infrastructure after invading a site that was hosted on Amazon's servers, and then installed the command to control. DeBolt refused, however, talking about which site was hacked, but said that the Trojan horse was removed.
The trojan has the function to steal passwords. Variables related to malware are over 100 million dollars in bank fraud reported last year. The director of HCL Technologies believes hackers could have just "stumbled" on a site with vulnerability s security - part of modifying software code or stealing the administrative password of a computer .
In recent years, some measures hampered the actions of criminals. Still, there is concern about the possibility of justice these criminals start using stolen credit cards to buy cloud computing services from companies like Amazon.
In August, the manufacturer of security products Arbor Networks detected a botnet which used Twitter to generate commands for computers hacked. Security experts say that these criminals will seek out new web services to use in 2010.
