McAfee announced on Tuesday (27/4) which will offer a one year free subscription to his service automatic verification of security to businesses affected by faulty update released last week.
The company added that, in specific cases, may offer other services, products and support packages. "McAfee and its channel partners will offer a package of customer commitment that may contain a combination or selection of services, support and products made for the situation of each client," the company said.
McAfee has announced its corporate clients that they will be contacted to receive details of the compensation program, and told them to apply for inclusion on this list, through technical support, if they have been affected by the bug.
"All affected customers will receive a free one-year subscription to our platform for automatic verification of security, which provides an overview of the organization's security or company based on best practices of McAfee," the company said.
McAfee did not specify the services we offer businesses, but it provides at least two: McAfee Vulnerability Assessment SaaS for medium and large enterprises, and McAfee Anti-Virus Health Check Assessment for small businesses.
The compensation program announced on Tuesday was the second since an update of virus released by McAfee wrongly identified, on Wednesday (21/4), a critical system file of Windows as a virus of low ameaça.A most PCs were affected by the failure of corporations, where hundreds - and in some cases thousands - of machines with Windows XP Service Pack 3 fought the system and reloaded repeatedly, and lost all access to network.
Earlier, McAfee promised to repay the corporate clients for "reasonable expenses" that had to repair their PCs, and said it would extend by two years the security signatures of affected customers.
Today, McAfee defined "reasonable expenses" as the cost to bring a PC to a "local expert technical support." Earlier, a spokesman for the company compared this value to the rates of technical support and repair levied by a major American network electronics . The company promised to provide more details about the refund process in the future.
