The servers are in the U.S., but the information gathered can be accessed anywhere in the invited countries.
The government of Rio de Janeiro will have a virtual center of information exchange created in the U.S.. The project presentation was made on Friday (14/5) in the United States Consulate General in Rio and was attended by officials of the public safety of the state.
The Virtual Information Command Center (Virtual Command Center) is an online tool that the FBI offered for free. The system allows exchange of security information.
There are about 150,000 centers around the world, more than 20 countries. The FBI's representative in Brazil, David Brassanini, explained that countries are invited to use the platform by means of a password. The servers are in the U.S., but the information can be accessed at any time and place for users so restricted. The texts are translated into local languages.
"All this information is safely accessible to those people who may know what is happening and thus permit a more responsive, agile and effective. We are being proactive. Set the command center it can be accessed from anywhere in the country, "said Brassanini.
The U.S. government estimates that by August, more than 3000 passwords are distributed to the Brazilian authorities. The virtual center of information the FBI can also be used in the World Cup in 2014 and 2016 Olympics, to be held in Brazil.
The U.S. agents will assist in the preparation of information centers, the FBI and the expectation is that the tool is deployed across South America in the coming days, the software will be presented in Sao Paulo and Recife.
